Why should I donate money to The Homeless Project?
It could be argued that the most popular charities in Australia are popular because they spend a large portion of the money that is donated to their cause (up to 60%) on advertising, admin, marketing and self promotion. Disalusioned with this fact, we've set up The Homeless Project Ltd and in terms of effective altruism, it offers value for money second to none. The Homeless Project is mandated to ensure that 100% of all money donated is spent on the construction and acquisition of dwellings for people who are homeless or at risk. All additional costs are funded by the founders of this charity.
Is The Homeless Project Accredited?
The Homeless Project is registered with ASIC (ABN: 69 605 982 152) and is a registered Charity under the Corporations Act. We are also registered with ACNC (the governing body for charities in Australia).
How do homeless people find their way into your homes?
People who are homeless or at risk will often make contact with community crisis centres. Housing workers will then call around to find appropriate accommodation. The Homeless Project homes are compliant with local and federal regulations and are registered with local councils.
Who are the founders?
The Homeless Project was set up by 3 individuals who work full time in the field of homelessness. Their names are Richard Casley, Grant Demoitie and Stuart Allen. They believe that safe, affordable accommodation is a crucial step to acquiring work skills, stable employment and competent life management. They donate their time free of charge to The Homeless Project Ltd. They also contribute all running expenses of the charity from their own savings.

There are many worthy charities (more than 60,000) to choose from in Australia. We believe that safe accommodation is a necessity and we are dedicated to increasing its supply. A safe place to reside is a crucial step to getting back on your feet. It's hard to get a job or go to school or have your mind in order without having access to a shower and a good nights sleep. We also offer great value for all money donated. We can proudly say that we are perhaps the only Australian charity where 100% of money donated goes completely to the cause. The money that you donate will not be eroded by admin charges, a marketing budget, or directors fees; it goes to the construction and acquisition of homes for people who are homeless or at risk.
